Watch for ‘surprise entry portals’ for His glory.

A Season of Fulfillment

In a recent article I wrote how I’d had an intriguing dream. It was like I was invited into someone else’s house, yet there was a sense of ownership as well—in particular in regards to three separate orchid plants which I was taken to view. It was as if I owned them or was responsible for them somehow.

Incredibly, one by one these three orchids had all bloomed on the same day, each producing one remarkably large and beautiful bloom. Each bloom had an overwhelming fragrance, as if out of this world. As I buried my face in one and inhaled its scent, I remembered thinking that this must be the smell of heaven. The scent was so overpowering that as I awoke, I was surprised to find it wasn’t real—that I had been dreaming!

The scripture the Lord brought to mind as I prayed and meditated on this dream was Jeremiah 1:11-12 (AMP), which reads: “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Jeremiah, what do you see?’ And I said, ‘I see the branch of an almond tree.’ Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.’”

I have heard the Lord say repeatedly that we are in a season of fulfillment. Commentary sources explain that the poetry of the symbols used in this passage is of exquisite beauty. In harmony with words of hope, Jeremiah sees the almond bough, with its bright pink blossoms and its pale green leaves, the token of an early spring rising out of the dreariness of winter. The name of the almond tree (the poetical name is used here, not the common name) made the symbol yet more expressive. It was the watcher, the tree that “hastens to awake” (shâkêd) out of its wintry sleep, and thus expresses the divine haste which would not delay the fulfillment of its gracious promise, but would cause it, so to speak, to bud and blossom, and bear fruit.

I’ve had multiple orchid plants over the years, and can recall one in particular that hadn’t bloomed in at least three years. On the exact day I had given up on it and went to throw it away, I discovered that a new flower spike had miraculously appeared. Sure enough, a short time later it was covered in beautiful blooms!

Friends, don’t give up on your prophetic promises that haven’t “blossomed.” I feel the dream of the beautiful orchid plants was not specifically for or about me, but was representative of all those who have prophesied words of hope to others, and/or have received and stewarded the same. That there were three flowers seems important. Three in scripture typically represents something that is complete, perfect or whole, as with the beauty of the trinity. The blooms appearing all on the same day symbolize that indeed, we are in a “day,” or season for prophetic promises to blossom, replete with the fragrance of heaven.

Some Personal Testimony

Fast forward six weeks from the time of this prophetic dream. In this short time period, I have literally begun to see manifestations of prophetic promises—and prayers answered—that span almost two decades. In one instance a personal healing happened overnight. One night I literally went to bed with an ongoing physical issue, and woke up the next morning completely and visibly healed! There have been other breakthroughs as well.

But by far the biggest instance of fulfillment in recent weeks brings divine restitution to an ongoing injustice involving land and inheritance that has been perpetuated in my family for generations. Over and over again trusted prophetic voices through the years have prophesied that the Lord would redeem this situation. If I’m honest, it felt like we could identify with Abraham and Sarah—it seemed far, far too late to see any fulfillment of the promise.

Then suddenly, practically overnight, the Lord brought fulfillment in a way that defies any logical explanation. It will bring the biggest life change in our entire 42 years of marriage, and I can’t wait to see how this exciting new chapter unfolds.

Watch for the Glory

An unexpected door opened last spring for my husband to accept an assistant football coaching position at our local high school. The head coach is a strong believer, and also a good friend of ours. One day as I was praying for them, the Lord began to speak to me from Joel 2. What I heard, and we all bore strong witness to, was that the Lord intended to use this opportunity to pour out His Spirit on the team, the coaches, the school and the whole community. (See Joel 2:28-29.)

The Lord has continued to speak to me regarding this word of watching. In a recent time of prayer for our region I heard a rumbling. At first it wasn’t clear to me what this rumbling might be—was it a train, an earthquake or possibly thunder?

Once again the Lord brought Joel 2 to mind, and I knew the rumbling was the army of the Lord. Joel 2:5 (ESV) reads: “As with the rumbling of chariots, they leap on the tops of the mountains, like the crackling of a flame of fire devouring the stubble, like a powerful army drawn up for battle.

Then I heard the Lord say, “Watch for ‘surprise entry portals’ for My glory—out of the way places, small meetings and gatherings, public locations, schools, hospitals, the marketplace—where ever My people are representing the ‘church without walls.’”

“Watch. Watch. Watch for My glory to fall!
